  2. The Lebanese electoral system consists of so many FPP elections. If, in one constituency, the population ratio of Druze:Maronite:Shia:Sunni is 1:1:2:1, then in any general election, that constituency will hold five simultaneous FPP votes, and in effect, every voter will vote five times. Accordingly, if party W wishes to stand, it must find five candidates with the same ratio of religious backgrounds, all to stand on the one W ticket. Khazen (1998). If this system were used in Northern Ireland, then someone like Mr. Paisley of the DUP would first have to find a like-minded Catholic to stand as his running-mate!
