Abstract
It is highly required to provide a uniform access and management mechanism for large-scale and distributed data across multiple administrative domains. In this paper, a virtual distributed file system called GridDaenFS is presented to provide secure, uniform and transparent file access to data resources among distributed administrative domains. Underlying heterogeneous data resources are seamlessly integrated, and data resources can be conveniently published or shared. Furthermore, suitable security and access control policies can be properly assigned to guarantee user and data safety. Experiments show that the performance is comparable to traditional network file systems and it is much suitable for data-intensive applications.
