Abstract

In this chapter the reforms made to the English education system will be traced and evaluated. This task represents the core of this book for one major reason: the reforms will be evaluated against the background of all available information that this book has thus far explored. Thereby, this chapter will pull together the evidence gathered in the previous chapters. The historical outlines provide us with the main traits that characterise every system. Putting this in words of historical institutionalism, the evidence from this chapter delineates the path along which developments are supposed to have occurred.
