Abstract
Even if it is the core idea of democracy, making governments accountable will always be difficult to accomplish in practice also in well established democracies. Voters are supposed to make their governments accountable for actions and results and vote for a new government if they fail. Yet, it is for various reasons difficult for the citizens to obtain the crucial information about governmental activities and to analyze and evaluate the information they get from e.g. the mass media. Voters may also think they sit with a pour hand. There might be long time before the next elections occur and accountability can be claimed.
