Zusammenfassung

Für diese oder ähnliche Schilderungen von Menschen, die sich aufgrund ihres Alters offensichtlich diskriminiert fühlen, finden sich heute zahlreiche Beispiele (siehe etwa auf einschlägigen Internetseiten wie http://www.altersdiskriminierung.de, http://www.altersdiskriminierung.ch ). Ältere Menschen beschreiben, wie sie durch ihre Interaktionspartner herablassend behandelt oder wie Kleinkinder angesprochen werden, sie berichten über finanzielle Nachteile im Umgang mit Banken oder Versicherungen und sie verweisen auf berufliche oder ehrenamtliche Tätigkeiten, die ihnen unter Verweis auf ihr Alter verwehrt bleiben. Altersgrenzen sind außerdem ein weit verbreitetes Instrument der gesellschaftlichen Steuerung von Lebensläufen (Rothermund & Wentura, 2007). Es gibt gesetzliche Regelungen für den Einund Austritt aus dem Berufsleben, aber auch für den Eintritt in ein Beamtenverhältnis oder für die Inanspruchnahme staatlich alimentierter Ausbildungsangebote.
