Abstract
History of education in Italy has always been cultivated in a somewhat pedagogical way. The first university teaching of these subjects was a part of the pedagogical studies and nowadays this situation is at least similar, even though many changes have taken place. Most of the teachers of history of education come from a pedagogical training and this branch of studies is classified among the pedagogical ones and finds no place among the historical branches. All this, of course, discourages the efforts of the historians themselves and it is likely to say that there is a lack of communication between pedagogists and historiographers.
