Dezember 2003 erschien auf www.kuwaitchat.net folgende Umfrage: „Was halten Sie von den arabischen Zeitungen?“ 906 Internetnutzer stimmten ab, und bei drei vorgegebenen Antwortmöglichkeiten ergab sich eine eindeutige Tendenz: 82,7% klickten auf „Arabische Zeitungen taugen nur dazu, Schawarma einzupacken“, 9,6% meinten, die Zeitungen leisteten eine „Gute, offene Berichterstattung“, und 7,8% entschieden sich für „Weiß nicht“.360
