Zusammenfassung
Eine der wichtigsten und dauerhaftesten Institutionen des sozialdemokratischen Wohlfahrtsstaats, der nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg im Vereinigten Königreich errichtet wurde, war das staatliche Gesundheitssystem National Health Service (NHS). Dieses System der Gesundheitsversorgung beruhte auf dem “sozialistischen” Grundsatz einer bedarfsorientierten Verteilung von Leistungen, deren Inanspruchnahme den Einzelnen nichts kostet und die allen Bürgern gleichermaßen zugänglich sind.
