Abstract
Scientists in our days, and among them physicists, especially theoretical physicists, ressemble monks from the Middle Ages in at least two respects: They are at the front of learnedness, and they travel all the time long distances in order to exchange ideas. They even sometimes quarrel about points of divergence, but science in our days has a greater degree of certainty than philosophy in old days. Learned monks of old were mainly concerned with proofs of God; theoretical physicists are, for a good number, concerned with proofs of theorems within the new theories of the world. Cosmology has shifted from a theological to a scientific discipline.
