Kurzfassung
In den ersten Jahren nach Gründung sehen sich junge Unternehmen einer Vielzahl von Risiken gegenüber, die nicht selten zum Marktaustritt führen. Haben wir als Unternehmensgründer die Marktverhältnisse richtig eingeschätzt, steht genügend Kapital für den Geschäftsbetrieb zur Verfügung, konnten die geeigneten Mitarbeiter gefunden werden? etc; dies sind nur einige der Fragen, die sich die Unternehmensgründer stellen. In dieser Studie soll untersucht werden, ob junge Unternehmen, die den Markt verlassen, häufiger auf eine Ausweitung der Beschäftigung verzichten als vergleichbare Unternehmen, die die ersten kritischen Jahre überleben. Mit einem nicht-parametrischen Matching-Verfahren werden im Rahmen der Erfolgsanalyse Marktaustritten ähnliche Unternehmen zugespielt, die sich in einer Vielzahl von Charakteristika nicht unterscheiden („eineiige Zwillinge“). Die so generierten Unternehmensgruppen werden hinsichtlich ihrer Wachstumsperformance in den Jahren vor Marktaustritt verglichen. Erfolgsindikator ist die durchschnittliche jährliche Wachstumsrate und verglichen wird, wie sich die Anteile derjenigen Unternehmen, die positive Beschäftigungswachstumsraten aufweisen, zwischen den beiden Gruppen entwickeln.
