Abstract

Shallow parsing has come into use during the preceding decade under various names and for various tasks. The different approaches vary in some respects but also share many features. This article is intended to give a general view of the features of shallow parsing structures, their automatic annotation and the purpose of their annotation. A special focus is on shallow parsing structures for German.
