Abstract

Corstorphine traces the history of horror in literature, discussing points where horror has appeared most clearly in fiction and examining the ways in which critics have interpreted horror. The introduction also lays out the structure of the handbook and provides a summary of the individual entries that links them together thematically in a narrative fashion. It discusses the approaches of the contributors and suggests ways of reading horror fiction from different perspectives.
