Abstract

In this chapter, we introduce some mathematical primitives including finite fields, groups, and bilinear pairing that are the foundations of group-based cryptography. We also describe three types of hash functions that play an important role in the scheme constructions. We mainly focus on introducing the feasibility of basic operations and the size of binary representations.
