Abstract
Dr. Irvine Heinly Page is one of the hypertension pioneer researchers, whose work has been a landmark for understanding the mechanisms related to this devastating condition. Among his most important scientific contributions in the field are the identification of the renin angiotensin system, the identification of serotonin, the description of a neurogenic mechanism in renal hypertension, baroreceptor resetting, and of course, the widely acknowledged mosaic theory of hypertension. In this chapter we discuss milestone moments in his life and scientific career, and we aim to offer to young scientists engaged in the cardiovascular field an insight into the personality and abilities of this great man, physician and researcher.
