Abstract
In this chapter PartKommPlus—the German Research Consortium for Healthy Communities—will be presented. PartKommPlus is one of seven research consortia in Germany in the field of health promotion and is the largest research project to date in that country using participatory health research approaches. The chapter includes background information on participatory research and municipal health promotion in Germany, a description of the structure and goals of the consortium, and a discussion of the challenges faced in the implementation process during the first funding phase.
