Abstract

The city of Umeå is located in Northern Sweden, and the University of Umeå has the only vitreoretinal clinic in Northern Sweden (Fig. 4.1). All hospitals in Northern Sweden refer their eye patients to the University of Umeå, which means that all patients with retinal diseases within this huge geographic area are operated at only one place.
