This chapter will follow the patient from arrival in the trauma resuscitation bay to decision to operate and travel to the operating room, to incision, to key intraoperative maneuvers and associated pitfalls, and to the surgical ICU postoperatively. The general approach to the procedure and the detailed management of specific intra-abdominal injuries are addressed.
