Abstract
Applicants should start early, stay on track, and not hesitate to seek clarification and assistance in completing all the materials necessary for promotion. A complete CV may be required weeks before the final deadline as it is provided to internal and external individuals who make independent assessments of the eligibility for promotion. The CV and personal statement must clearly articulate that the applicant meets the expectations for the requested promotion and convey his/her leadership and contributions to the institution and possibly nationally. Positive attitude, good writing style, and attention to detail are necessary to prepare a cohesive and persuasive application dossier. The application must enable the reviewer to identify and understand the core evidence as efficiently as possible and convince him/her to advocate for the promotion. Appreciating the different perspectives of reviewers is as important as understanding the expectations for promotion. Obtaining robust reviews from experienced faculty members from different departments is invaluable.
