Abstract

I attended the International petroleum week conference in London in late January 2017. It’s the first international conference with oil companies where they have been taking climate change seriously. They had previously been paying lip service to it, but now almost as a kind of existential threat in realizing business-as-use is the one thing they wouldn’t face. The discussion is now “lower for longer” in terms of the oil price, and even the discussion of “lower forever”.
