Abstract
In 1988, the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage (MFLF) started the Doi Tung Development Project (DTDP) on the initiative of HRH Princess Srinagarindra, late mother of HM the King of Thailand. Mom Rajawongse Disnadda Diskul, better known as Khun Chai, Secretary-General of MFLF, was given responsibility for planning and implementing DTDP. As part of an innovative economic forest program under the project, Khun Chai was the architect behind the creation of the Navuti Company, which was among the first social enterprises in Thailand.
The author would like to acknowledge the contributions of staff of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation—too many to name personally—in assisting with this paper.
