Abstract

Kamikatsu Town is a small village with an aging population situated in the mountains of Tokushima Prefecture on Shikoku Island in the southwest part of Japan. Roughly, 1800 people reside in the village, with more than 50% of the total population over the age of 65 (as of January 1, 2014).
