Abstract
According to Omodia and Erunke (2007), the need to institutionalize the culture of good governance within the regime of democratic governance is the cornerstone of civil-society initiatives, particularly in emerging democracies such as Nigeria. Thus, all civil societies that are seen as operating from the public space are reinforcing mechanisms for effective governance in the overall interests of the majority of the people.
