Descending Thoracic Aortic (DTAA) and Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysms (TAAA)

Abstract

The guideline recommendations for the treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA) observe the diameter of the aneurysm, its symptoms and growth rate. Basically, both open (OR) as well as thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) are feasible. However, due to lower perioperative morbidity and mortality in clinical practice, at least for aneurysms that are confined to the descending thoracic aorta, TEVAR is given preference by far.
