Abstract
The philosophical underpinnings of the empirical work are described in this chapter in a straightforward manner that makes these complex thinkers more accessible to practice-based researchers. The chapter progresses by philosopher to include contemporary perspectives on process-relational philosophy, post-phenomenology, speculative realism, vital materialisms, and affirmative ethics.
