Adult Umbilical Reconstruction

Abstract

The authors review the anatomy of the umbilicus and its shape and location. They describe their technique of repositioning the sad-appearing umbilicus with “umbilicosliding.” An open minimal invasive procedure was designed to offer a better enhancement of the umbilical structures. This allowed the reconstruction of the navel in the exact and correct anatomical shape. Overall aesthetic outcome is satisfactory as assessed by experienced specialists and patients.
