Abstract
This introductory chapter will firmly acquaint readers with an overview of what constitutes heavy timber construction. This in-depth overview will define exactly what the type is, its purpose, how it’s defined, the type’s common characteristics and design features, and the fairly wide array of structures belonging to this particular construction type.
