Abstract
The aim of this work is a detailed analysis of “Ferguson’s planetary train”, the model that represents a part of a scaled copy of the Solar system model. The peculiarity of the mentioned planetary model is that the rotational movement of input link of the mechanism is converted into the forward movement of its output link. A detailed analysis of so-called “Ferguson’s Paradox” was conducted as well as the biography of James Ferguson was recounted. The created 3D model demonstrates the Ferguson’s Paradox. Possible applications of the mentioned “paradox” in technical devices, engineering solutions and teaching process are considered.
