Abstract

Models from the collection of the F. Reuleaux mechanisms stored in Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU) not only belong to the objects of cultural heritage but also are actively being used for the educational purposes. However, this leads to a gradual deterioration of the working properties of the components of the mechanisms that is why it is necessary to carry out the restoration process. Improvement of the technologies used during the restoration process increases the durability of mechanisms parts but at the same time greatly increases the costs of their implementation. The assessment of expenses for restoration of model Q-17 from the F. Reuleaux collection has shown that it is possible to pick up the best materials and technologies for carrying out the restoration process as well as has shown the expediency and a possibility of manufacturing of prototypes of models of mechanism Q-17 with use of technology of the rapid prototyping realized with the use of the three-dimensional printing system Objet Eden 250.
