Abstract
SNOMED CT is a comprehensive multilingual clinical terminology used in electronic health records and interoperability. Its components are concepts (codes), descriptions (terms) and relationships. Concepts are organized into hierarchies. SNOMED CT expressions are either a single concept (pre-coordinated) or more complex post-coordinated expressions using compositional grammar. Reference sets are used to provide subsets of the whole terminology for specific purposes.
