Abstract
Ultrasound of the spleen is commonly performed for a variety of indications spanning from trauma to enlargement due to hematologic or neoplastic disease. Obtaining high-quality images of the spleen can be challenging due to its location under the ribs, particularly in noncooperative or nonverbal children. Standardized scanning technique, along with knowledge about normal and pathologic findings can help increase diagnostic validity. Color Doppler studies are part of a comprehensive splenic ultrasound evaluation.
