Abstract
Virtually all patients have at least one pre-visit expectation from their doctors, such as establishing a diagnosis, estimating the duration of the symptom, receiving a prescription, ordering diagnostic tests and subspecialty referrals. Unmet expectations have been reported by 11 and 18 % of primary care patients, the most common concerning the physical examination, diagnostic tests, and health-related information.
