Abstract

This chapter gives a general overview on the potentials of shape memory alloys in industrial applications and focuses on the strategic usage of pseudoplastic and pseudoelastic effects in order to combine the effects for enabling new beneficial constructions. Strategic differentiations of electric shape memory alloy drives are presented in comparison to electromotoric and solenoid drives in the first part of the chapter. The second part focuses on application potentials of spring and damping elements based on the pseudoelastic technology.
