Abstract
This chapter presents the basics of today’s valve technology discussing state-of-the-art valve thermal and electric drives. Beginning with the purpose and requirements of valves, this chapter introduces different valve drive technologies which are established on today’s market comparing them to potentials and possibilities of shape memory alloy-based valve drives.
