Abstract
Pyloric stenosis is a common pediatric surgical emergency commonly seen in the first 2 months of life. Child presents with classical metabolic derangement in the form of hypochloremic, hyponatremic metabolic alkalosis. Clinically, a pyloric ‘tumor’ can be identified usually by test feed. More recently, ultrasound is used more regularly to identify the condition. A ‘pyloric index’ is identified to diagnose the condition by ultrasound. Pyloromyotomy is the treatment of choice and can be performed by open or laparoscopic technique.
