Abstract
Background and basic concepts are introduced to define the defining parameters for study of porous media. The local thermal equilibrium (LTE) model and the nonlocal thermal equilibrium (NLTE) model of heat transfer in porous media are compared based on their assumptions and applicability. The key dimensionless governing parameters for a geometry, i.e., description of a porous medium are presented.
