Abstract

Liver metastases can be seen in all advanced gynecological cancers; however, the role of resection for these malignancies is not clearly defined. With the success of liver resection in the context of colorectal liver metastases, renewed interest in liver resection for other solid organ metastases has developed. In this chapter we explore the role of liver resection as part of cytoreduction for gynecological malignancy comparing and contrasting the patterns of disease. There does appear to be a role for resection of liver metastases in a carefully chosen population of patients. Generally the mortality and morbidity of resection is low and can provide improved survival rates if reserved for selected patients.
