Abstract

Four groups of rotaliid foraminifera are distinguished according to their basic structural shell characteristics. These groups are or remain excluded from the family Rotaliidae. The new subfamily Laffitteininae is here assessed. Neorotalia, Paralockhartia n. gen., Laffitteina, Cuvillierina, Smoutina, Storrsella with eleven species (N. alicantina, N. litothamnica, N. viennoti, P. eos n. sp., L. marsicana, L. mengaudi, L. monodi, L. bibensis, C. sireli, S. cruysi, S. haastersi) are described and illustrated.
