Abstract
The title of this chapter refers to Moodle, perhaps the most widely used open source course management system (CMS). Course management systems also are referred to as learning management systems (LMS) or virtual learning environments (VLE). Moodle and similar systems provide options for deploying full-scale online courses or supplementing face-to-face instruction. Course management systems can support scheduling, lesson planning, grade reporting, and so forth. This chapter explores various CMS platforms and also provides a concise selection of apps for specific purposes. These additional apps are grouped in three key categories: note-taking (for teachers, not students), professional reading, and attendance and grading.
