Abstract

Since their discovery in 1960 by Chambers, potassium organotrifluoroborates have been incorporated into a number of diverse applications. This chapter reviews their range of uses, which are classified into four main categories, 1) as precursors for difluoroboranes; 2) as intermediates for synthetic pathways; 3) as precursors for ionic liquids and 4) as reagents for metal catalysed cross-coupling reactions.
