Unter die Begriffe Anxiolytika und Tranquillantien (Synonyme: Ataraktika, Psychosedativa, Sedativa, Tranquilizer) werden eine Reihe von Neuro-Psychopharmaka zusammengefasst, die

  • eine vorwiegend dämpfende Wirkung auf die Psyche haben

  • die Angst vermindern

  • affektiv entspannen und

  • Erregungszustände sowie deren somatischen Begleiterscheinungen mildern.
