Zusammenfassung
Bis zur Renaissance beruhten unsere Vorstellungen über Planeten und andere Himmelskörper auf visuellen Beobachtungen und einigen Messungen mit relativ primitiven Geräten wie zum Beispiel dem Kreuz- oder Jakobsstab. Entwicklungen im 16. Jahrhundert verbesserten diese Situation und setzten den Prozeß in Gang, der zu unseren modernen Vorstellungen über das Universum führen sollte.
