Die Hauptaufgabe des Tragflügels besteht darin, Auftrieb mit einem Minimum an Widerstand zu erzeugen. Unter dem Auftrieb versteht man dabei eine Kraft, die senkrecht zur Anströmrichtung und zur Flugzeugquerachse steht.
