Abstract
The conclusion presents an overview of the historical trends noted in music within lunatic asylums, including the differences between private and public institutions, and the ways in which the study can cast light on the more general place of music in society. The second half of the conclusion reflects on the relation between this historical study and the practice of music for health and wellbeing in modern times.
