Abstract

Routing is critical to fully enable end-to-end communication between IoT devices and applications. IoT routing, however, is heavily affected by topology and device constraints that make traditional routing mechanisms less than ideal. The power limitations of devices affects the flow of traffic to applications and forces IoT routing mechanisms to comply with certain requirements. This chapter starts by presenting relevant WSN routing technologies that introduce concepts that serve as the base of IoT routing. The chapter then focuses on analyzing RPL and LOADng IoT specific routing standards.
