Abstract

A structure subjected to dynamic loading has to be designed such that the possibility of resonant vibration is minimized and the dynamic stresses are below the allowable stresses for the material. Towards this, dynamic analysis has to be carried out both for identifying the resonant frequencies (free vibration analysis) and for finding out the dynamic displacements and stresses (response analysis). Such a study is described in this chapter with reference to simple problems involving rectangular and circular plates.
