Abstract

In the chapter, basing upon modern information about the local defense mechanisms in respiratory organs and partly own experience are presented the most important anatomical, histological, and immunological data. Special attention is paid to the factors which influence upon them, including the peculiarities of mortality and morbidity during the siege (blockade) of Leningrad (1941–1944). The chapter is illustrated by one original schema.
