Abstract

The chapter is based on long-term studies provided by A.V. and V.A. Zinserling on Pseudomonas, Klebsiella, Proteus, and Escherichia pneumonias on children and adult autopsy material and partly on experimental studies in comparison with numerous literary data. Important is the fact that clinical and pathological appearance strongly depends on the individual properties of the pathogenic strain. Lung gangrene was fundamentally studied by V.D. Zinserling. Pneumonias due to other pathogens are only mentioned. Text is illustrated by nine images.
