Abstract

The voracious appetite of the ITER project has left almost no public money for other than ‘ITER-relevant’ tokamak research. Private venture capital has stepped in and is presently funding a number of private companies that have sprung up in this century as spin-offs of universities and national laboratories or otherwise. Most of them are pursuing the unpromising approaches mentioned in the previous chapter.
