Abstract

Confidence, self-image, and self-esteem are all interrelated constructs that allow one to find value in oneself. This chapter focuses on some of the key strategies to maintain one’s self-image in a positive light. Self-help tools, coping strategies, and lifestyle management are important factors related to one’s self-image, self-esteem, and confidence. In this chapter a detailed discussion on proper sleep hygiene, exercise, and mindfulness are all discussed in relationship to one’s confidence. Finding your inner critic and overcoming mental limitations are also important strategies discussed in detail regarding confidence, self-image, and self-esteem. Learning these coping strategies discussed in this chapter will ultimately lead one to a better and healthier lifestyle while also increasing the chance of successfully Matching into a US residency program.
