Abstract

Head and neck cancer is the sixth most common cancer worldwide. The majority of cancers in the head and neck are squamous cell carcinomas; however, skin cancers represent a growing number of new malignancies diagnosed in this area. It is important for the reconstructive surgeon to have an understanding of the behaviors of these cancers, staging, and reconstruction challenges in each subsite in order to optimize patient form and function following ablation.
